Toilet Paper Vase & Art!

I got a cute new shelf for our half bathroom. I love it, but I was struggling with the perfect vignette to display there. I know that many fabulous minded ladies decorate their bathroom with useful items: cotton balls or Q-tips in pretty clear jars, simple stacks of neatly folded towels, etc. However, none of this is really useful in a half bathroom! But what is useful in any sized bathroom? Toilet paper!

To make your toilet paper vase you will need:
  1. 2 ply Toilet paper. I only used 2 rolls, but you can use as many or as few as you like!
  2. Whatever you want to display in your vase. I had peacock feathers left over from my wedding!

Take each roll of new toilet paper, and slowly pull off the end to start the roll. Do not pull too far, as you do not want the sheet to separate completely.

Next, separate the two plys from one another on the portion of the roll that you detached. Open them, and push them flat against the toilet paper roll. When you let go it has the appearence of a little ruffle!

Stack your rolls on top of one another, and fill with peacock feathers - or whatever you are using! I wanted a little bit more height for my feathers, so I simply balled up a paper towel and put it inside the bottom toilet paper roll.

What do you think? I like that it's a unique addition to the powder room. However, it feels like the shelf is missing something, has too much, or needs something different... Ideas?

I have also been eying the abounding uses for empty toilet paper rolls as art! Here are some examples I ! You can bet you freshly wiped bottom that you will see my version of one of these coming soon!

I can't decide between some version of the framed one or the one that mimics metal artwork. Mama needs a plan!
