Chic Mail Sorter

So I was going to have another furniture reveal for you, buuut I kinda sort of messed it up just a little, tinsy bit. Therefore, I'll have to figure out how to either fix or embrace my mistake before posting. I know, boo. In the mean time, check my cute little mail sorter!

So, who would  have thought bills could be so fun!? I nabbed this vintage mail sorter at Goodwill! I knew it could be something really fun with just a little bit of work! Here he is before:

This was a fun and fast little makeover. The worst part was waiting for the paint to dry! I started out with two coats of KILTZ primer, and followed that up with two coats of Krylon's Ivory. Then I took some teal colored scrapbook paper and cut it to fit. I roughly measured the openings and cut my pieces a little bit larger. Then I just tried to fit the cut and eyeballed how much needed to be trimmed. For some reason, I seem to screw up "exact" measurements all of the time...

Then I attached the paper with Mod Podge. (is it sad that I just realized that I've been spelling that wrong this whole time? i.e. Modge Podge...I think I like mine better!) You need quite a bit of it. At first I just put a thin coat and it may as well not have even been there. So lay it on a little thick and attach your paper in the respective places!

I love it! Though, I have yet to decide if I'm keeping it or not. It even has the perfect place for my keys that I lose all the time, though not quite as much anymore! I love breathing new life into old items! What do you think?

This and more unique items are up for grabs in my "shop".
