Lordy, third week of school is already done. Honestly, I feel like I'm drowning. Work all day, an hour commute in each direction, meetings until 6pm...then come home and lesson plan for about 3 hours each evening - grading and planning over the weekend! I was nodding off on the drive home because I'm so sleep deprived! I started teaching thinking, "what is these teachers' problem? Good pay, summers/holidays off..." Well, I'm starting to get it. I knew it'd be lots of work...but not THIS much! Alright, that's enough "oh woe is me-ness", but that's sort of an explanation of why I'm just now getting to this post!
So, my school's colors are orange and black, and white? I also see blue around. I'm not really sure what the official colors are, but I know one of them is orange! One motto is WEBO: We Believe in Orange! I chose to paint this campaign dresser orange and white for my classroom.
This piece is actually a 3rd of an "L" shaped campaign desk that I scored. I paid $50 for the entire thing! I have plans to redo the actual desk portion for kiddo. Here's a peak at the before:
I picked up that "set" of turquoise books at a garage sale for like $8 total. They had a TON of books! Love the pictures of my sweet doggies and kiddo... The dictionaries are courtesy of the school! Speaking of dictionary...did you know they added "twerking" to the Oxford dictionary? Definition: "dance to popular music in a sexually provocative manner involving thrusting hip movements and a low, squatting stance: just wait till they catch their daughters twerking to this song twerk it girl, work it girl". /facepalm Yes, that really happened.... God save us all!
I digress - love, love LOVE the campaign style! Those gorgeous brass accents! /drool
I'm the only teacher (that I know of) with a special piece in their room! I've gotten lots of compliments on it. I also have it at the back of the room, so it makes my day a little bit more bearable when I look at it! ;)
There will be more coming on my classroom! Hopefully, it won't take me another 3 weeks! =/
